elementor-size-default\">About the RENEW Study<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ae0562a elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"ae0562a\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">RENEW<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Study is evaluating an investigational study drug to see if it may safely and effectively reduce the need for blood transfusions due to myelodysplastic syndrome and MDS-related anaemia.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This study has at least 20 visits.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During the study, you will have a 2 in 3 (67%) chance of receiving the investigational study drug and a 1 in 3 (33%) chance of receiving a placebo. A placebo is a <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">substance that looks like the investigational study drug but does not contain any active ingredients.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The investigational study drug is expected to block proteins in the blood that interfere with your body\u2019s ability to make red blood cells. There are additional criteria that are reviewed by the study team at the study centre at<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the first MDS-related anaemia is caused when bone marrow is unable to make enough healthy red blood cells. People with MDS often have anaemia, or low red blood cell counts, and require blood transfusions to help relieve their symptoms.
